Dental Anxiety - Garden Ridge Center For Dentistry

Dental Anxiety

Did you know that dental anxiety and dental phobias are common reasons patients avoid or delay going to the dentist? As years go by, the chance to discover, treat and manage cavities, gum disease, infections and even oral cancer in the dental office in a timely manner is lost. Postponing needed dental cleanings, check-ups and treatment due to fear can increase the amount of damage to both your overall health and your budget.

We understand that dental anxiety and dentophobia is real, so we offer a variety of sedation options to meet your personal needs and keep you comfortable.

Nitrous Oxide - Garden Ridge Center For Dentistry

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous Oxide is commonly referred to as “laughing gas” as it can make patients feel happy, relaxed, and calm during their procedure. A breathing mask is placed, and the nitrous oxide along with oxygen is released in the mask. The effect works quickly- in a matter of minutes you may begin to feel relaxed and calm for your dental procedure. Once the procedure is complete, the nitrous oxide mask is removed, and the “laughing gas” is out of your system in a few minutes, so you are able to drive yourself home. This is a great technique for those with mild anxiety, or for children requiring dental work such as fillings.

Mild Oral Sedation - Garden Ridge Center For Dentistry

Mild Oral Sedation

Oral sedation, or enteral sedation, is a technique that works well for patients with dental anxiety that will require a longer dental appointment. Oral sedation is given in the office in the form of a pill. Patients benefit from remaining in a relaxed state for several hours, and do not remember much of the procedure after it is complete. This is a great technique for moderate anxiety or for patients requiring extensive dental work.

Moderate IV Conscious Sedation - Garden Ridge Center For Dentistry

Moderate IV Conscious Sedation

IV sedation, or parenteral sedation, is a conscious sedation technique where anti-anxiety medications are administered through an intravenous line for fast and effective anxiety control that is adjusted specifically to your needs. It is a conscious sedation technique, sometimes referred to as “twilight sedation”, so you are responsive and breathing on your own. We use a combination of safe and effective medications that place you in a relaxed state and you don’t remember much of the procedure. This helps patients with moderate to severe dental anxiety to better manage their dental appointment experience, and is a great technique for surgical procedures.

Gentle Local Anesthetic Technique - Garden Ridge Center For Dentistry

Gentle Local Anesthetic Technique

We use a state of the art buffered local anesthetic technique to try to make our injections pain-free. The Onset Buffering System is a game changer in local anesthesia. It has been specially designed to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of anesthesia delivery, ensuring a more comfortable experience for our patients. Patients often report feeling less discomfort during the injection process, which means a more pleasant dental visit overall. Additionally, the accelerated onset of anesthesia reduces the waiting time for the anesthetic to take effect, allowing us to proceed with the necessary treatment promptly. It’s particularly advantageous for patients who are more sensitive to pain or have had difficulty achieving adequate anesthesia in the past. With this advanced technology, we can tailor the local anesthesia experience to meet your individual needs, ensuring optimal comfort throughout your dental procedure.
