Dr. Mark Howell brought dentistry to Garden Ridge, Texas in 1985. Since then, he has developed the Garden Ridge Center for Dentistry into a state-of-the-art facility to keep pace with this fast growing area.
Dr. Mark graduated from Memorial High School in Houston, Texas in 1973. He went to Georgetown, Texas to attain a Bachelor of Science degree at Southwestern University in 1977. Prior to attending dental school, he was an engineer for Dresser Industries International until 1979. He achieved his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry in 1983 along with fellow classmate and wife, Dr. Maria Howell. They married shortly after graduating from dental school.
In the late 1980’s, his interest and experience in orthodontics (braces) and endodontics (root canals) were encouraged when several of his patients urged him to learn more about these treatments as they did not want to travel when Dr. Mark recommended a referral. Today, with decades of experience in these treatment areas, he is a Premier Provider for Invisalign braces and enjoys routine endodontics.
Dr. Mark has enjoyed working in Garden Ridge and belongs to several local community and professional organizations.
From 1989 to 1999, Dr. Mark taught in the area of Operative Dentistry at the the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry where he served as an associate clinical professor.
His professional affiliations include the San Antonio District Dental Society, Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Functional Orthodontists, and the International Academy of Orthodontists.
When not at the office, Dr. Mark enjoys playing league tennis, water skiing, gardening and spending time with family.
